The game is simple: select whether you want to play on your own (solo), as part of a group (multiplayer) or party mode.
In multiplayer mode, you can compete with friends either together in the same room or with friends in any location. In party mode, all you need to do is fire up your Deezer app on your desktop/laptop, get everyone to scan the QR code and let the quiz begin! You will have 30 seconds to guess the name of the song that is playing - the quicker you answer, the more points you will receive! Each quiz has 10 questions you’ll need to answer - you can select quizzes based on a wide variety of musical genres (rock, pop) from themes (80’s, 90’s, musicals) and even choose quizzes generated from your playlists: there is a quiz for everyone!
How to play a music quiz
If you are playing Party mode, select the quiz you want to complete and get everyone who is playing to scan the QR code that appears, including yourself.
Simply choose a quiz from our many available options, sorted by genres, artists, decades and more! From there, you can select to play in one of three modes; Solo, Multiplayer or Party;
- Solo mode allows you to train your knowledge, beat your best score and challenge a friend
- Multiplayer mode allows you to invite up to 100 friends/players to the quiz (via social media and direct link) you’ve selected and compete in real time to see who comes out on top
- Party mode allows you and up to 100 friends to play in real time in the same location, by scanning the QR code that appears on your desktop/laptop
Note: To play multiplayer mode in the same location, one player needs to use the sound from their device whilst other players answer using their own devices simultaneously
To begin the game once all participants have joined, the user that created the multiplayer room, known as the Master of the game, needs to kick the competition off by selecting Start the game.
To launch a quiz generated from a playlist, select the … icon in the top right corner of the chosen playlist and select Launch a music quiz from the list of available options. This feature is available to Premium/Family subscribers and must contain at least 10 tracks within the playlist.
You will have 30 seconds to select the name of the song played from a list of multiple choices - the quicker you answer, the more points you will score!
How to share your results and challenge someone
Note: This is only available in Solo mode
After you have finished, the score of the game will be displayed along with your best score on that particular quiz which can be shared on social media and with your contacts.
You will also be able to see where you are placed in a Leaderboard of other Deezer users.
If you want to challenge a friend to your chosen quiz, once your score has been displayed select CHALLENGE A FRIEND and choose the method of sharing - a message will be sent to each person selected.
Note: Select Friends to see how you're ranked compared to your friends!

Only Premium/Family subscribers can launch a quiz in multiplayer mode, but all free and subscribed users can join a room to compete. Free users in solo mode will only be able to access one game. If you have a friend who is using a different streaming service, they can try the quizzes out for free using a 2 step sign in process (email, username), but the second time they try to compete they will need to setup a Deezer account to participate.
