Are your kids desperate to listen to their own music? Maybe you’ve got a new flatmate and want to share a Deezer subscription! Or perhaps you’ve just started university and want to benefit from a Student subscription. Deezer makes it simple to upgrade or downgrade your subscription at any time, giving you access to different account types.
Jump to section:
What type of subscriptions are available?
We offer various subscriptions depending on your needs:
- Deezer Premium - an individual user account
- Deezer Duo - a subscription that allows two members of the same household to use Deezer Premium under one ownership
- Deezer Family - a subscription for the whole Family! Create six family accounts, including kids and listen on up to 13 devices!
- Deezer Student - a subscription for users that meet Student eligibility
Whatever your needs, you will be able to find a Deezer subscription that suits you (and your family!).
Upgrading from Free
Decided you and your partner want to join Duo? Or started university and want a Student account? No problem, upgrading your account is simple.
Your first step should be visiting www.deezer.com/offers and select the plan that best fits your needs.
Tip: New users may be eligible for a Try & Buy offer that includes a free trial period (usually between one to three months) - this trial period will still require a valid payment method associated with the account but will not be charged until the trial period has expired
Note: Only new users will be eligible for a Try & Buy offer. If you are a returning user, you will be charged at the normal subscription rate
Once you’ve selected your offer, you’ll have to sign in with your login credentials (email username and password) and enter your payment details to continue.
Note: Payments can differ depending on which country you are based in - please find more information here
After this, enjoy the music!
Upgrading from Premium to Family/Duo
If you are already a subscriber on Deezer Free or Premium and you would like to move to a plan that offers you music for another member of your household, or the rest of your family, you can join Deezer Duo or Deezer Family by following these steps:
- Navigate to your profile icon at the top left hand side of your application
- Select the Settings cog at the top right hand side of your application
- Select Account management
- Click on Manage my subscription - depending on your current plan, select Subscribe or Switch
Note: If you are changing your subscription and are subscribing through Apple, your new subscription will only take effect after the current subscription expires, and although you will be charged immediately for the subscription, you will not have access to the benefits straight away. We recommend in this instance that you cancel your current subscription first, wait for it to expire and then proceed with an upgrade.
Downgrading from Family/Duo to Premium/Free
Have your kids all flown the nest? Or maybe your housemate has moved out? It’s no problem if you need to downgrade your subscription.
If you subscribe on either a Family or Duo subscription and want to downgrade, you will first need to cancel the current subscription and once your account reverts to Free, subscribe again to the plan of your choice.
Note: If you subscribe to Deezer through your Apple account, you can only cancel directly with Apple. Find out how to cancel your subscription here
